Injection Molding Parameters
| Process Stage | Parameter | Recommended Range | Unit | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pre‑drying | Drying requirement | Normally not required | — | Low moisture absorption; pre‑heating around 80 ℃ is beneficial for dimensional stability. |
| Barrel temperature | Barrel temperature | 170‑200 | ℃ | Homopolymer POM has narrow processing window; do not exceed 220 ℃, otherwise irritant formaldehyde gas will be generated by decomposition. |
| Melt temperature | 190‑210 | ℃ | ||
| Mold temperature | 80‑100 | ℃ | Higher mold temperature improves crystallization, dimensional stability, surface gloss and reduces sink marks. | |
| Injection parameters | Injection pressure | Medium | — | Recommended processing strategy: medium pressure, medium speed, low melt temperature, high mold temperature. |
| Hold‑up pressure | High (close to injection pressure) | — | Sufficient hold‑pressure to reduce pressure drop and sink marks. | |
| Screw speed | Not excessively high | rpm | Avoid excessive shear heat; keep small cushion to prevent thermal degradation. | |
| Barrel residence time | As short as possible | min | Prolonged residence at processing temperature will cause material degradation. |
